Author Interview – D.A.& M.P. Wearmouth

What marketing works for you?

M – We have noticed a real spike from ebook-booster.

D- Kindle Nation Daily is still good, Steve Windwalker is very approachable and helpful. The Kindle Fire Department and Bookblast are also excellent, we used these when lauching our novel. Recently we got a good boost from being a bargain book with Ereadernewstoday. I still think word of mouth is the most powerful tool.

Do you find it hard to share your work?

M – No its part of the process to have a 3rd party evaluate what you have written.  Appealing to a mass market is not possible without many reviews.

D – A small part of me is concerned about rejection, but I was really keen to get our book out there to see what people thought. So far the feedback has been generally positive.

Is your family supportive? Do your friends support you?

M – They didn’t really get involved at the beginning but all are supportive since publishing.

D – We kept our cards close to our chest when writing the book. Part of this is because we would have been teased! Since we published, family and friend have been great.

Do you plan to publish more books?

M – We would like to write two more books following First Activation.  They will explore the world we have created and develop the characters.

D – Yes, we’ll finish this series and then take stock. I’d like to do more in the Post Apocalyptic genre, but it’s too much to think about at the moment.

What else do you do to make money, other than write? It is rare today for writers to be full time…

M – I specialise in the subsidence of buildings and my own consultancy in Harrogate.

D – I work as a Technical Project Manager delivering technology solutions to enterprise businesses, I won’t explain any further as it’s quite boring.
