Author Interview – Diane Mulligan @Mulligan_writes

Do you have any tips on how writers can relax?

My experience has been that writers are pretty uptight people. Relaxing is not our strong suit. If anyone else has advice on this, please tell me, because I need it!

How often do you write? And when do you write?

I write all the time, almost every day. I like to write in the morning the best, although I had found that when I write in the evenings I tend to think of surprising twists. Maybe when I’m tired I can tap into my subconscious more easily! I can’t imagine not writing for days at a time. I don’t know how to function if I haven’t put my thoughts on paper.

Do you have an organized process or tips for writing well? Do you have a writing schedule?

I don’t generally keep a schedule. If I’m in the midst of a specific project, I will often set a daily word count goal, but otherwise I write as the spirit moves me, which luckily it does most days!

What movie do you love to watch?

All time favorite: Bridget Jones Diary. Great book, great movie! I am so excited that there’s a new Bridget Jones book out.

How do you feel about social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter? Are they a good thing?

I’m pretty torn when it comes to social media. I like knowing what’s up with my friends, but I don’t have time to invest in them. I can sort of understand how people who sit at a computer all day get involved in twitter conversations, but I can’t keep twitter open at my desk when I’m at school, so I never really get into those back and forth conversations.
